Yes. The sampling kit you purchase is not linked to your name or email. This allows you to gift the DNA test to your mum, grandma, brother, or anyone. The gift recipient collects the sample following the instructions and returns the sample free of charge from their own address using the prepaid courier.
The DNA Lifestyle Test focuses on athletic predispositions, metabolism, and nutrition. With this test, you will understand which types of sports are more suitable for you, how your body reacts to caffeine and alcohol, and what your genetic predispositions are towards vitamin and mineral levels in your blood. Find all the aspects analysed in the DNA Lifestyle Test under “What the analysis contains” by clicking on each category on this page.
The collected sample is sent anonymously, marked only by the sampling kit ID code, to our certified partner laboratory in Denmark. In the laboratory, the DNA is isolated from the sample, which is then analysed using a genotyping process in which selected polymorphisms (700,000 sites within the DNA) are observed. You can learn more about the entire process on our blog. The output of the laboratory analysis is a data file (RAW data), which we then process using our software based on scientific research findings. We evaluate the data in-house in Slovakia, still using only the anonymous sampling kit ID code.
The laboratory staff destroy the sample within 30 days of completing the analysis. The data obtained on the individual polymorphisms are sent to our company and subsequently erased from the laboratory database within 30 days. As the sample passes through the laboratory identified only by the barcode ID on the sampling kit, the staff have no way of knowing whose sample they are analysing. Our customers’ personal information never leaves our company.
No. DNA ERA does not share any data with third parties or other companies without the customer’s consent. Only the customer has access to the results, via their account on our website. The customer can ask us to erase the results from the database at any time. DNA ERA only aggregates data for the purpose of further statistical processing, and always in an anonymised form.
The sampling kit has a guaranteed lifespan of several months. The stabilising solution in the sampling kit will stabilise the sample for several months after collection. You can order the DNA test and do it later, or order it in advance as a gift, give it to your loved one, and they can then do the sample collection and send it.
You will find the step-by-step procedure on how to register the unique ID on your sampling kit in the instructions for sample collection included with each DNA test. If you do not register your sampling kit, we will be unable to link it to your account, and therefore unable to analyse it. If that happens, we will ship you a new sampling kit for a fee of €50.
