Description

A carrier of an autosomal recessive disease is considered to be a person who has one copy of a mutated gene in their DNA. Such a person usually does not show symptoms of the disease but can pass it on to their children. Diseases in this category are inherited recessively, meaning that two copies of the mutated gene are needed for the disease to develop.
If both parents test positive, consulting a doctor is recommended. Our analysis does not cover all genetic variants that may be associated with the development of autosomal recessive diseases. This means you could be a carrier of a variant we have not yet analysed.
