DNA analysis from DNA ERA represents the latest studies in genetics and genetic predisposition for the dimensions covered by our tests. Our team consists of geneticists, data analysts, physicians, nutritional experts, and sports coaches partnering with a certified laboratory in Denmark to ensure we work with the most up-to-date information.
The DNA kit (sampling kit) we send to the customer contains a sampling swab from leading Canadian manufacturer DNA Genotek Inc. The sample received from the customer is sent anonymously using only its unique ID code to our certified partner laboratory in Denmark. We obtain the necessary information by isolating the DNA and then genotyping it, a process in which individual polymorphisms are read (700,000 selected DNA sites that are currently well-researched). The output from the analysis is unprocessed data (RAW data), which we then evaluate to produce specific results using evaluation system we developed in-house in Slovakia.
The evaluation system we have developed in collaboration with geneticists, physicians, and data analysts is used to evaluate the unprocessed (RAW) data we receive from the laboratory. The evaluation of the results takes place in Slovakia and, just like the DNA analysis in the laboratory, this process is conducted using a unique ID code. The resulting analysis, as well as the raw data, is available to customers under their account on our website. See what your results may look like.
Data processing and security, including our customers’ personal data, is our top priority at every step of the analysis. Thanks to our internal standards and methods, the entire DNA analysis process is anonymous and takes place using a collection kit ID code that is unique for each kit. At each step, only the information necessary to process the analysis is available to employees, and the customer’s personal data never leaves our company.
Each sampling kit contains a unique barcode (kit ID code) used throughout the entire DNA analysis process. Registration of the sampling kit is done by the customer. The personal data linked to the registration does not leave our company and the samples are only identified by the laboratory using the barcode. The unprocessed (RAW) data is returned to our company linked only to that code.
We use email address verification as well as mandatory two-factor authentication using a code that we send to the customer-verified mobile number to better secure the accounts on our website. Of course, a strong password is also set when creating a new customer account. The customer can request that their account is deleted and the data is removed from our database at any time.
Following the laboratory analysis of the DNA, the sample is destroyed within 30 days, according to the current legislation applicable to the handling of biological material. Similarly, the laboratory staff will delete the unprocessed (RAW) data within 30 days of our company receiving it. Any data after that is stored only in our database.
Only specific company employees have access to our customers’ data. The consent for sample processing is given by the customer upon registering the sample kit using their customer account. DNA ERA processes the collected data into statistics for the purpose of further communication, but always in a strictly anonymised form.
